On July 24th 2010 a BBC camera crew arrived at Yorkshire Air Ambulance HQ to film the team as part of the Helicopter Heroes series.

Shortly before 7am, emergency medical dispatcher, Chris Solomons, arrived at work feeling unwell.

Within minutes Chris had gone into cardiac arrest and his colleagues and a cameraman immediately began the battle to save his life – using CPR and an AED.

Scary at the beginning but excellent. the training and previous experience obviously kicked in but the the adrenaline must have really been flowing! The patient was one lucky man, many others are not so lucky. It’s the very reason I wish to renew my knowledge of First Aid that I used to do many years ago incorporated in the RLSS qualifications I took, up to and including Teachers Certificate.
